November Musings
It’s the end of November, and the first snow of the season reminds me another year is almost at its end. Since I haven’t written anything here in a while, let’s try something different, this post is a barely organized collection of thoughts.
BlueSky Stats in Posts
I made a small update to my blog today that I am super happy with! Blog posts will now show stats from Bluesky at the bottom. I have gone back through all the recent posts starting with the Staveil Postmortem and made sure those posts are linked to Bluesky.
Keeping sanity online
I want to preface this by noting that this isn’t a guide on “how to be more productive”. I don’t believe people need to be productive all their waking hours. These strategies and tools might not work for you but they helped me have more fun with games, be less angry as much about stuff that doesn’t matter and in general have a better time online.
Starveil is now open source
Blog update: New theme, relicensing content
I want to start writing here a lot more as I have thoughts™ and I want to share them. To that end, there have been some changes made on this blog, yet again.
🏴☠️ Piratemoji: A Twemoji-style pirate emoji pack
TL:DR: I released a Pirate themed emoji pack, you can download it on GitHub.
Lifting the Veil: Starveil Postmortem
It’s been two years since I have started a very ambitious project with my friend, Sukkoy. We have set out to make an online game, a little MMORPG, just to see if we could. That project has turned into Starveil.
Steam Deck: Is the 'Year of Linux on Desktop' upon us?
For a while now, I’ve had some thoughts on the Steam Deck and what it means for Linux. After some discussions about it in various places, I thought it’s finally time to put the thoughts down on (digital) paper.
Building the server infrastructure for an indie MMORPG
Isleward, the open-source MMORPG I am working on with @bigbadwofl, is growing and with it grow the server hardware demands. This post describes the infrastructure I’ve put in place for our indie MMORPG as of the v0.9.0 release in mid-May.
New year, new theme, new name
Well, sort of. Decided to refresh the look and the name of the blog a bit and make it more tech aligned, since that’s what the posts are mostly about anyway.
Today in WoW - iOS Scriptable.app Widget
It’s December 2020 and the last post on this blog was in February 2019, I am clearly bad at this whole blog thing. But I made a thing and I want to tell you about it.
Deploying Isleward 2: The Dockering
Isleward’s infrastructure has changed. I wrote a new post about it which you can read here.
Your Game Is Not a Roguelike
I have an issue with the roguelike (and to an extent roguelike-like and roguelite) genre. More specifically, I have an issue with the name of the genre.
Deploying Isleward
Isleward’s infrastructure has changed. I wrote a new post about it which you can read here.
Init 6 (Reboot)
Yes, I borrowed the title from Mr. Robot.
init 6 basically tells the system to reboot and that’s what this is, a reboot of my blog.
